Duncannon Branch Grand Opening Celebration


ImageIn case you missed it, we celebrated our grand opening of our new Duncannon branch on Saturday, June 2. Here we are cutting the ribbon and making it all official. Bob Marquette, our President & CEO, is the guy holding the scissors getting ready to make the cut. He had some help from Jackie Eakin, Chairman of our Board of Directors, who is standing to his right. Thanks to everyone who participated in the ribbon cutting!

Get snappin’ and enter our calendar photo contest


We are looking for landscape photos of southcentral Pennsylvania to use in our 2013 Calendar. Photos must be landscapes from these counties: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties. See below for contest rules.

Maximize Image Quality
The best prints come from the finest images. Supplying your image to Members 1st in the proper format and resolution will help your submission standout. As a rule, the higher the resolution, the better the picture. Check your camera’s instructions to figure out how to change the resolution setting. For premium printing results, always select the maximum offered photo size and quality. We recommend using no less than 12 mega pixels or 4000 x 3000. Submitted images should be in TIF or JPG format.

Submitting Your Image To Our Contest
Images must be submitted as an attachment by email to: Members1stContest@artcomsys.com. In the body of your email, you must include the following: your full name, years of membership, daytime phone, and description of photo including the town and county in which it was taken.

Contest Rules*
Members 1st Federal Credit Union reserves the right to determine, at its sole discretion, whether a submitted image is acceptable.

  • Contest runs from June 1 to August 1, 2012.
  • Submission of photo(s) grants Members 1st FCU permission to use the photo in marketing materials without additional compensation.
  • Photos must be submitted via email (see Submitting Your Image To Our Contest above)
  • Paper entries or entries submitted on any portable media (CDs, flash drives, etc. will not be accepted).
  • No more than five (5) images may be submitted per person.
  • Entrants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Photos must be horizontal. (Vertical photos will be disqualified.)  Photos must represent the following southcentral PA counties: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties.
  • Photos containing any people, provocative, derogatory, violent, sexual, racially or discriminatory or culturally or socially sensitive material will be disqualified. Copyrighted/trademarked photos will be disqualified.

Winning Entries
12 photos will be selected to represent each month in our 2013 Calendar and 1 photo will be selected to appear on the cover. The calendar will be distributed to members on Credit Union Day, Thursday, October 18, 2012. Entries deemed as honorable mention may be used in other Members 1st materials as determined by the Marketing Department without additional compensation.

Winners will be notified by phone or email. Individuals whose photos are selected to represent a single month in the calendar will each receive a $25 VISA ® Gift Card. The individual whose photo appears on the calendar cover will receive a $100 VISA® Gift Card. The winning photos will be identified in the calendar along with the winner’s name, town and photo description.

Graduating from college and need wheels? See us first


Are you a college graduate buying your first car? How exciting for you. There are many things to think about when buying a car that go beyond make and model. Unless you are indecently weathly, you have to think about financing it and repaying your loan.

We know that it’s not easy being a recent college graduate trying to get a loan. That’s why we offer our First Time Car Buyers Program designed specifically for college graduates. The best part is that we don’t require a down payment.  To qualify, you must:

  • Be a college graduate – That means you must be within 30 days prior to graduation or within 6 months after graduation from a four-year degree program, two-year associate’s degree program, junior college, community college, nursing school or trade school. Graduate students are eligible while enrolled in grad school if there is proof of adequate income.
  • May not have had a vehicle previously financed
  • Be employed or have verifiable offer of employment with a salary sufficient to cover ordinary expenses and your loan payment
  • Not have any derogatory credit history

If you apply for your loan directly through us at any branch, by phone or online, we’ll give you 90 days to make your first payment. If you apply while you’re at the dealership, we’ll give you up to 45 days to make your first payment.

Duncannon Branch Grand Opening


We hope you can join us for a special celebration on Saturday, June 2. Mark your calendars now for our Grand Opening Celebration event of our new Duncannon Branch located at 48 Business Campus Way (near Mutzabaugh’s Market).

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature a live broadcast with WRBT “Bob” 94.9 FM from 10 a.m. to noon; free BBQ, soda and water (while supplies last), games, prizes and a drawing to win a free Kindle Fire. In addition, we are giving away 75 signed copies of the book, “Life Along the Shermans,” written by Perry County resident and Members 1st Board Member Dennis J. Hocker.

Our new Duncannon branch marks the first Credit Union in Perry County and we’re very excited to have the opportunity to be first one there. Our newest branch opened for business on April 23 and features 3 drive-thru lanes, and an image-enabled ATM.

Join the fun – 5K Run for Kids


Celebrate National Credit Union Youth Week and help support two local organizations, Caitlin’s Smiles and Leg Up Farm .

Join us for our 5K Run for Kids on Saturday, April 28. This event will be held at our Administrative Headquarters, located at 5000 Louise Drive, Mechanicsburg, PA.

Our Members Earned Almost $2 Million in Rebates!


If you’re not reaping the rewards of being a member at our Credit Union, then you are not taking full advantage of your account relationship with us. Just remember R&R go together — rebates and relationship. The more you work on your relationship with us, as in using more products and services, the more you’ll benefit in terms of rewards. It’s like peanut butter and jelly – it just goes well together.

To give you an idea as to how this works, the total amount of rebates earned by our members in 2011 was almost $2 million! That’s right, $2 million! That’s big bucks back in your wallet! If you’re not a member of our Credit Union  right now, can you say that your current financial institution does that?

Members who use our VISA Debit Card received a total of $865,098 in Swipe 5 rebates last year. The average annual rebate was $10.15. Our Business debit card members earned over $21,940 in Swipe 5 rebates. The average business card earned about $7.85.

Our VISA Platinum Rewards Credit Card cash-back rebates posted to member accounts late last fall and were based on total purchasing activity within the year. In 2011, over $954,000 in rebates were earned! The average rebate amount was $57. One member earned over $2,100! The more you use our credit card, the more you earn!

We reward business members, too, when it comes to VISA. A total of $129,730 in business VISA Credit Card rebates was deposited into member business accounts. The average reward received per participating business was over $110. And get this – one business received $24,521!
